fiscal responsibility...
Sep. 12th, 2006 04:08 pm...is clearly not my middle name. On the other hand I am now the proud possessor of a significant pile of comics-related loot. In time there may be a full accounting, but for now let it suffice to say: I bought a lot of stuff. It makes me excited. I wish I had the time to read it ALL RIGHT NOW. However, that is not to be. And because I am freaking insane I am currently eyeing a number of books at the regular bookstore, including but not limited to: Charles Burns' Black Hole, the Collected Ellison and a few other paperbacks....plus I am itching to order a bunch of Hellblazer from amazon since I could not find a single copy of trades one OR two at the con. (Although I did buy Papa Midnight and Lady Constantine to hold for future reading).
Anyway, the con was pretty much awesome, although small and with a disappointing amount of programming. However I did get to meet Jennie Breedon of Devil's Panties fame and managed NOT to make an ass out of myself. Plus she signed all 2 books I bought and is really just obviously awesome. As was Chris from In the Puddle (AND I now own a bunny butts of doooooooom tshirt). AND a CBLDF tshirt, you know you're totally jealous. My friend Andy came to visit and be nerdy with me at the con (as well as being awesome and driving us there both days). We also got to sit in at the Harvey Awards.
Nothing productive was accomplished this weekend in terms of cleaning or laundry (although at least the laundry was consolidated, making my bedroom floor visible). I did however manage to make potato-leek-watercress soup, straight out of Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking Volume 1." So that was pretty satisfying.
GALE on Friday went much more smoothly than anticipated and the portion of the training that I ran was apparently neither too boring or incomprehensible, so yay me. There is another session on Saturday and then nothing until October, so hopefully the next 2 weeks will be slightly calmer and allow me to catch up on everything else.
