quick update...

1. I am officially an idiot. What this particular idiocy amounts to is:
a) Planned Television purchase must be pushed back a bit (more on this topic later).
b) The next 2 weeks to a month+ are going to be a little tight money-wise overall.
c) Despite my ability to keep my checkbook balanced, I still manage to fuck up my finances somehow.
So here's the short of it, I didn't realize that this particular pay period (i.e. the $$ deposited in my account as of this morning) was for the time covering the majority of my (rather expensive) trip home. Needless to say (but I'm going to say it anyway) the check was MUCH smaller than I had anticipated or planned for, leaving me without enough $ in the checking account to, I don't know, pay my rent on Tuesday? Whoops. Luckily, the land of credit offers me these check thingies every month and even their 3%-of-total extra charge and the inevitable interest I am going to have to pay when I can't pay off my entire balance will not stop me from using them to pay my rent (mostly because I see nothing romantic about a stint of homelessness). I would like to point out that this will not, in fact, stop me from spending money on essentials like reading material and plane tickets, it just means I get to feel a little guilty about it. Loan money will come through in early September and then all will be right in my financial world, I'm just going to feel a bit uncomfortable about it all until then.

2. Speaking of televisions...anyone have any recommendations? The (dirty-ass) roommate is moving out (YAY YAY YAY!!!!) and taking her tv with her. Happily one of the boys downstairs has offered to bring his tv upstairs for the interim, so I will not be Project Runway-less. Eventually however (and hopefully in the relatively near future) I would like to buy my very first television.

3. The next Fruits Basket manga comes out August 1st, hoorah!

4. I got bunches of cool stuff for my birthday, most notably:

• I-Robot (robots AND naked Will Smith? How can you lose?)
  
• The Fifth Element (future action adventure with crazy aliens!!)
  
• and another fabulous sci-fi movie that since I'm sitting at work I can't remember the title.

dsudis has also decided to keep feeding my graphic novels habit with Mike Carey's "The Furies." (The illustration style was really cool!) Why are my habits so expensive?!?

5. The roommate from China is leaving today and last night was spent celebrating at the Cornerstone bar. A slightly ghetto college bar, but I have never been approached by so many guys in a night. Flattering but also disturbing, I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone and needed a shirt that said "Thanks, but I like dancing alone."

6. This weekend, for our watching pleasure, Netflix has delivered unto me both Murderball AND Mirrormask, the latter of which dsudis has agreed to watch with me. Plus she has decided that we all need to mainline season one of SG1, so we are in for a rather crazy viewing weekend!

In conclusion, a little bit poor and a little bit tired and ultimately glad that it is Friday.

shit. how much to i suck at life? clearly i was so overwhelmed by its fabulousness that i could no longer function. mmm, Serenity. I may be forced to watch that tonight.
