consumer hor...
Jun. 1st, 2006 11:43 amyup, that must be me. I just like spending the cash. Not like rent is due todayish or anything! But hooray for paid accounts! Now I can keep adding pretty pictures. And someday I will figure out how to use all the fun new features (and the old ones too...man I am laziness personified lately), specifically the personal mood themes. That is my new goal.
In other news, I am participating in a 5K tomorrow, the Race for the Cure (for breast cancer). I would like to point out that I will be walking this race; even if it IS at 815 in the AM (which is really just treasonous) it will still be much too hot to even think about quick motion. Plus the whole starting at 815 means we have to get to the location by 730ish at the latest, which is going to mean me getting picked up at some ugly hour of the morning (like 630 or so, which I know is not really THAT bad for most people, but I am most sincerely not a morning creature most of the time). But in preparation I did buy a pair of gym-type shorts, since I though 3 miles in jeans might be a tad uncomfortable. My boss even came with me to the campus store so I could get a %20 discount! Although I still have trouble coming to terms with the fact that the ONE pair of shorts w/discount was $12 more expensive than the TWO pairs of jeans I bought together on Friday. There is just something essentially wrong with that.
In other news I have picked up some sort of research-type job here on campus. Not sure exactly what this will encompass, but so far what I've gotten is that I will watch people use a search system and evaluate the search results, the search itself, the people searching and the byproducts of the search results. And then, uh, figure something out from that. We'll see. First training session is this Friday night, so hopefully I will have a slightly better idea of what is going on after that (although based on the interview for the position, it sounds like the people in charge are almost as in the dark as I am. So this should be an exciting adventure for everyone!) What I do find interesting is that (as far as I know) all the participants are from the Library Science program here. The program is heavily attended by women but it seems this research project is mostly guys. Interesting...very interesting...or not. Just an observation.
